Our Mission

WORDBridge Now℠ builds bridges through programs that ignite a passion for diverse literature. We accomplish this mission through live online author meet-ups (T.E.A.C.H.* Enrichments) in celebration of the power of words to enlighten our human condition.

*Teachers, Educators, & Authors Collaborate against Hatred

Our Values

  • Empathy, compassion, and social justice
  • Unity across differences, combating hatred
  • Belief that the WORD reveals goodness in the world
  • Power of personal connection
  • Enhancement of joy in life
  • Safety, respect, and dignity
  • Freedom from violence and prejudice
  • Possibility of positive change
  • Loving others as oneself, and loving oneself as others

“Books are sometimes windows, offering views of worlds that may be real or imagined, familiar or strange.

These windows are also sliding glass doors, and readers have only to walk through in imagination to become part of whatever world has been created and recreated by the author. When lighting conditions are just right, however, a window can also be a mirror.  Literature transforms human experience and reflects it back to us, and in that reflection we can see our own lives and experiences as part of the larger human experience.”

About WORDBridge Now℠

Angie Beumer Johnson, Ph.D., Founder

We live in a world with increasingly volatile speech and actions–with 733 active hate groups1 in the U.S. alone.

A former English teacher and current teacher educator, I founded WORDBridge Now, LLC℠ to help us learn, empathize, and increase civility and compassion for a more just world. We are all human, and we are all different. Reading diverse literature reinforces both of these truths.

WORDBridge Now℠ Membership provides live online monthly T.E.A.C.H.* Enrichments (Teachers, Educators, & Authors Collaborate against Hatred): inspiration from meeting diverse authors, epiphanies from knowledgeable guest speakers, and enthusiasm from our community of readers and learners.

T.E.A.C.H.* Enrichments open our eyes to our own biases and allow us to enjoy the power of story to unite us. Well beyond traditional, one-and-done programs, WORDBridge Now℠ membership is grassroots, participatory, unique.

Our WORDBridge Now℠ community feeds our minds, hearts, and souls so we can in turn nourish all around us who hunger for the hope, joy, and unity that diverse books provide.
